About

I'm Karthik Prabhakar, Managing Partner at PeerCapital, a seed-stage venture firm I co-founded in Bengaluru. My career has taken me from embedded software engineering at Intel through an 11-year journey at Chiratae Ventures, where I progressed from analyst to managing director, and now to building our own fund. I focus on seed-stage investing with a systems-thinking approach, particularly in applied AI, manufacturing complexity, and India's home economy. I believe judgment matters more than capital in early-stage VC, and I'm passionate about helping founders with foundational decisions, endurance mindset, and navigating real-world complexity. I engage regularly with founders, investors, and ecosystem builders to share insights and build meaningful partnerships.

  • Created cumulative 1.5x DPI on his investments at Chiratae Ventures by the time of his exit

Opinions

  • For early-stage venture capital, judgment is more important than capital deployment
  • India's competitive edge in AI will be in deployment and application within complex, real-world environments, not necessarily in foundational model development
  • India's manufacturing opportunity is in managing 'high-mix, low-volume' complexity, not just competing on cost ('Complexity+1')
  • Failures and companies that didn't work out are profound learning experiences that improve judgment more than clean successes
  • Building enduring companies requires an endurance mindset, deliberate management of decision fatigue, and protecting the quality of judgment over the long term
