About

I'm Cameron Wilson, Co-founder and Executive Advisor at Code.org. My career has been defined by scaling systems—from driving 350+ policy reforms in the U.S. House and ACM to co-founding Code.org and reaching over 100 million students globally. Most recently, as CEO, I led our pivot to Generative AI, and I now focus on the technical 'messy middle' of architecting production-grade agentic systems and AI transformation frameworks. I’m passionate about the idea that technical depth is more critical than ever; while English may be the new programming language, true agency requires a deep understanding of computer science. I’m currently exploring senior roles in AI transformation and foundation leadership, and I’m eager to connect with engineering leaders to discuss how AI is reshaping the workforce. I offer a unique blend of global organizational leadership and hands-on AI architectural experience.

Background

Career

Transitioned from a decade in the U.S. House of Representatives and public policy into co-founding and leading Code.org for over 12 years, eventually serving as CEO before moving into an AI-focused advisory role.

Education

BA, Finance, Michigan State University (1989 – 1993); Graduate of the Congressional Research Services Graduate Legislative Institute.

Achievements

  • Co-founded Code.org, reaching 100M+ students and 1M+ teachers.
  • Led advocacy for 350+ policy reforms across all 50 U.S. states.
  • Managed a $30M+ budget and 120+ staff as CEO.
  • Developed an AI buying agent with a 94% accuracy evaluation framework.
  • Represented Code.org at the White House AI Task Force.

Opinions

  • Coding is not dead; technical depth is more important than ever.
  • True agency over AI comes from understanding technical underpinnings (CS), not just prompting.
  • Models that can say 'I don't know' are more valuable for agentic workflows than sycophantic ones.
  • Small teams can now build powerful internal 'intelligence layers' without massive engineering teams.
